Uganda Cranes’ attacker Farouk Miya has joined Turkish side Çaykur Rizespor on a two-year deal.
“We say ‘Welcome’ to Farouk Miya and wish him success. The 24-year-old Ugandan football player signed the green-blue colour scheme for two years. It is announced with our respect to our community and the public,” the club website noted.
Miya has been without a club following the breakout of the war between Ukraine and Russia.
During that time Miya, who had joined Ukrainian club, Lviv, decided to leave the country for his safety and head to the UK.
Miya’s long-awaited debut in the Ukrainian Premier League failed to materialise after the domestic league was suspended following the introduction of martial law by president Volodymyr Zelensky then.
Caykur Rizespor is Miya’s seventh foreign club since leaving Vipers in 2016.
Other sides he has featured for are, Standard Liege and Royal Mouscron in Belgium, Azerbaijan’s FK Sebail, HNK Gorica of Croatia and Konyaspor.
