At least seven major commercial centres in the city will experience load shedding on Sunday, July 24.
The development is to allow repair works to take place, power distributor Umeme said. It explained in a short message Sunday that repairs will include damaged underground cables at Kalerwe.
Some areas that have been affected by the power shutdown include Kawempe, Mbogo, Kyadondo, Tula, Maganjo, Kagoma, and Kidokolo.
Most of the areas had by Sunday morning been switched off the power grid, but there was no indication from the company about when the power will be restored.
According to Umeme, their team on site is still trying to establish where the exact damage is to have it rectified. “Therefore, the restoration time is yet to be estimated,” Umeme said.
