The electoral commission of the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) has started testing the voting system that will be used in the polls that are slated for May 23, 2022.
Speaking to journalists yesterday, May 16, the electoral commission chairman, Geoffrey Jeff Ekongot, explained that this is aimed at enabling those that are not on the system to submit their queries before the voting date.
“We are trying to do this because we want to reach the voting date when no one has queries. Our aim is to see all eligible voters voting. We have also provided another alternative whereby someone can use SMS. I am sure that if the internet fails, the SMS system will not fail,” he said.
Ekongot urged the voters to start using the system to confirm their names, phone numbers, and other data.
On Saturday, May 21, there will be a presidential debate among the contestants, including King Saha and Cindy.
King Saha said his attendance will depend on how busy he is that day.
“If I have a running show on the same date and they are giving me good money, then I will not show up for the debate,” he said.
