Taking shape at the right time is the mission Uganda’s only female Olympic Gold winning medallist Peruth Chemutai has been embroiled in since the year began.

FBK Games Hengelo 2022 – World Athletics Continental Tour Gold Meeting is the latest stage Chemutai chose to put up a prudent podium finish show on Monday evening.

Running at Blankers – Koen Stadion, Hengelo, Netherlands, Chemutai ceased the clock at 9 minutes, 14 seconds flat to win the gold medal in the women’s 3000m steeplechase.

This was Inspector of Police’s fourth medal in the last 5 games in all competitions this year (2022) alone.

The 22 year–old started off with a bronze medal at Uganda National Cross-Country Championships in Tororo, Gold at World Cross Country Tours Belgium, Silver in her road debut in France and now Gold at FBK  Games.

The only race in which the police officer did not register a medal bracket finish was the Eugene Diamond League late last month.

Her head coach Addy Ruiter keenly watched in total delight of how his trainee went about her business.

“She controlled the race from the beginning. First behind the pacer and when the latter dropped she was having the remaining race to run and sped up in the last lap to claim victory,” the overjoyed Ruiter summed.

This kind of result is exactly what Chemutai needed to bring back home as she quickly turns her attention into World Athletics Championships, Eugene (USA) and Commonwealth Games, Birmingham (UK) respectively, next month.
