Ugandan makeup artist and costume designer Shakirah Kibirige has been selected to be a mentor during the European Film Festival masterclass in Zimbabwe on October 29, 2022.
Kibirige will lecture filmmakers on Introduction to Makeup and Special Effects via zoom.
She told The Kampala Sun that a friend recommended her for the gig and she is humble about the opportunity.
“An artist called AK Simba who conducts masterclasses in Zimbabwe recommended me when he was asked to well-profiled makeup artists to help them in the European Film Festival in Zimbabwe. A lady called Roberta then contacted me about it and I accepted. It’s a great opportunity and I welcome it in pleasure,” she said.
In 2019, Kibirige won two Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAAs) accolades for her work on ‘Mercy of the Jungle’ for Best Costume Design and Best Makeup. She also won Best Makeup Artist in the New Vision Awards 2022.
