Uganda scoops two accolades at the AMAAs

Ugandan movies “Tembele” by Morris Mugisha and “No Way Out”, an animation by Ashraf Mulima bagged awards at the Africa Movie Academy Awards(AMAAs) that were held last night in Lagos, Nigeria.

“Tembele” won Best Achievement In Cinematography while “No Way Out” won Best Animation”.

Morris Mugisha, who picked the two accolades thanked Ugandans for the support, the Uganda Communications Commission(UCC), and the government for the help offered to him and other filmmakers.

“Thank you to everyone in Uganda, the UCC and government for everything and the AMAAs for this,” he said.

Last year, 2021, Uganda received 7 nominations and won one award, and this year, the country received 15 nominations and won two.

Tembele also won three awards at the Uganda Film Festival Awards 2022. It is also representing Uganda at the 95th Oscars Awards.
