The Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) has confirmed that they will honour the late Kato Lubwama aka Bisso, a drama actor, musician, songwriter, comedian, businessman, former radio presenter and MP, on Monday, June 12, 2023.

Initial reports indicate that Lubwama succumbed to heart complications early Wednesday morning, June 7, at Stana Medical Centre in Bunamwaya, Wakiso district.

In an interview, the spokesperson of UNCC, Robert Musiitwa, confirmed that they had a meeting with the family and they will receive the body on Monday morning at the National Theatre, just next to Kato’s former workplace, the Parliament of Uganda.

Because Kato was not a sitting Member of Parliament, his body won’t lie in state in the Parliament of Uganda, according to his close friend, Muhammad Nsereko, the Kampala Central Member of Parliament.

Kato was the former Member of Parliament representing the people of Rubaga South and will be remembered for his “Let me go and eat” campaign slogan.

“You have to mourn me for seven days,” those are some of Kato’s words, according to close friends and relatives.

By the time of his death, Kato was set to launch his Uganda Theatre at 60 play on July 29, 2023.
