For the third time in a row, thieves have struck the Soroti city offices, this time round stealing two batteries of the garbage truck, which was newly-donated by the local government ministry.
The incident occurred on Thursday night, July 7.
“The truck was in the parking lot of the city where the Police were, but to our shock, we have found the truck vandalised,” said the city spokesman, Patrick Okello.
This is the third such incident to occur in Soroti city offices, with the first being last year when over 1,000 hand hoes the Government had donated to all the districts and cities last year were stolen.
Okello noted that this year, the city lost computers whose whereabouts have not been found.
“The Soroti City West MP, Jonathan Ebwalu, has ordered the DPC of Soroti city to arrest the police officers who were guarding the city offices because it’s now too much,” Okello said.
The police spokesman for Kyoga East, Oscar Ageca, confirmed the news, but said he was yet to be briefed by the detectives on the details.
“I had about the theft at the city offices but the detectives have not yet returned to provide me with the details,” Ageca said.
