SAUTIplus media hub auditions the “When you become me” feature film

Light For The World and Reach A Hand Uganda have partnered in the making of a feature film titled “When You Become Me”.

It focuses on promoting disability inclusion, breaking the stigma, and telling the lived reality of persons with disabilities plus other issues affecting young people. SAUTIplus media and Nabwiso Films have been commissioned to take lead on this production.

After a series of virtual auditions, successful candidates were invited to showcase their acting skills at Classic Diners Cafe. Hundreds of contestants including persons with disabilities thronged the venue for the auditions.

An experienced panel of judges including Matthew Nabwiso (Nabwiso Films), Silvester Kasozi ( Country Director -Light for the World Uganda), Emily Niringiye (Communications Associate) , Victoria Chemutai ( Reach A Hand Ug) and Herman Namanya ( Sauti Plus Media) was the adjudicators at the auditions.

“This feature film is a  powerful communication tool that will change the narrative and promote disability inclusion at a national and global level. It will also mirror the richness of our diversity as a people and further shape our beliefs and values for the better. 

It is already beautiful seeing how young people with and without disabilities at the audition are interacting with and pitching for each other; some, for the first time. ”- Silvester Kasozi Country Director Light for the World.

According to the Director, the film will be set to hit our screens by January 2023.  Stay tuned!
