The Police at Jinja Road in Kampala Metropolitan East have launched investigations into the murder of a guard at Luzira Senior Secondary.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire has identified the deceased as Geoffrey Mugerwa, 22.
The preliminary investigations have established that the school guard’s death could have resulted from the punch which he took from a Senior Four student identified as Duncan Byambala.
It is alleged that at around 11am, while the students were exiting the school through the main gate, a scuffle ensued as the school attempted to block them.
“Mugerwa fell on the ground and was unconscious before being rushed to St. Steven Dispensary where he was later pronounced dead,” police said.
They add that upon receiving the information, they conveyed the deceased’s body to Mulago city mortuary as investigations into the matter continue.
“We have recorded statements from the eyewitnesses as we embark on the hunt for the suspect who is currently on the run,” added Police.
