The Police on Friday, June 17, said they were hunting for robbers who hacked to death an 11-year-old Kitante Primary School pupil after he attempted to make an alarm.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, said the robbers also stole sh800,000.
“The territorial Police at Old Kampala has commenced investigations into the murder and aggravated robbery of Arom Waligo, an 11-year-old Primary Four pupil at Kitante Primary School and a resident of Nakulabye zone 7, Rubaga division Kampala City,” Owoyesigyire said.
He explained that Waligo was left home alone on Friday.
“Unfortunately, armed robbers wielding pangas came to break into the neighbour’s house, Waligo saw, and attempted to make an alarm. However, the robbers heard and followed him to his aunt’s house, where they hit him on the head, cut his neck and robbed sh800,000,” Owoyesigyire added.

He said one Irene Karungi, a neighbour opposite the home who had gone to collect her children from school, came back and sat on the veranda, only to hear someone breathing hard, forcing her to check the house, where she found Waligo lying on the floor in the sitting room, with blood oozing from his head and neck.
“They wrapped him on the head and neck and took him to Rubaga hospital, where he died upon arrival,” Owoyesigyire stated.
He said a team of officers from Old Kampala responded to the crime scene and relevant statements were recorded.
“The body has been taken to city mortuary Mulago for a postmortem examination as investigations and the hunt for the suspects continues. More details will be availed as soon as they are available,” he said.
Owoyesigyire appealed to the community to be vigilant even during daytime as criminals can always take advantage of a lapse in the community security.
