The Police in Kibaale district are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 24-year-old bodaboda cyclist following a fight over a barmaid.
The deceased has been identified as Ronald Byabagambi, a resident of Nyamarunda Cell, Nyamarunda Town Council in Kibaale district.
On Wednesday, July 6, Byabagambi reportedly developed misunderstandings with his colleague, one Amigo Atugonza of Kibeedi Cell in Nyamarunda Town Council, at around 9:30pm.
Residents who spoke to New Vision while at the crime scene on Thursday, July 7, narrate that the duo had fallen in love with one of the six bar attendants at Another Life Bar And Lodge in Nyamarunda Town, which sparked off the quarrel.

They added that Amigo and Byabagambi pounced on each other in a fight in which the latter was hit with a brick on the head and was pronounced dead at a clinic in Nyamarunda town, where he had been rushed for treatment. The suspect is on the run.
Maurice Musana, the Nyamarunda Cell LCI chairperson, however, described Byabagambi as a notorious citizen who did not respect leaders and loved fighting.
“We have on many occasions settled grudges arising from his behaviour, but he had never surrendered,” Musana said.
Enock Kaleba, the officer in charge of the Criminal Investigations Department at Kibaale Police, said investigations into the incident had commenced and that all bar owners in the area have been ordered to report to the Police so that they can be registered and monitored.
He allowed the relatives to carry on with the burial after the autopsy.
Area leaders, led by John Sanyu the chairperson LCIII for Nyamarunda Town Council, called for vigilance among residents and urged security to step up their operations to curtail crime.
