Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, has confirmed that they are on the hunt for singer Douglas Mayanja (Weasel) over allegations that he beat up and defaced his live-in lover and baby mama, Sandra Teta.

On Thursday, photos showing Teta with a bruised face made rounds on social media. Many claimed that the bruises had been inflicted on her by her lover, Weasel, who followed it up by dumping the couple’s two children at the entrance of Nomads Bar, a popular hangout in Bunga.

Although Weasel downplayed the issue on social media, claiming Teta’s wounds were a a result of an ambush from goons who beat her blue-black and stole her valuables, some individuals, including Daniella Atim Mayanja (Chameleone’s) wife, have come out and condemned Weasel, claiming he has a habit of battering.

She wrote on Instagram. ” Dear Weasel you need to stop . I love you and don’t want you to end up in a bad place. It is not too late to make peace and be a better husband.”

Earlier, Daniella had accused Chameleone of covering up for Weasel in a thread seen by The Kampala Sun.

She wrote to him: ” What you guys are doing is not good. You guys are not doing the right thing. Her tooth is broken and you can see it.”

He responded: ” All will be well. Don’t worry, I am doing my best to help then.”

On Wednesday, August 3, Owoyesigyire confirmed that police detectives on Tuesday went to Weasel’s home looking for him, but he was nowhere to be seen.

“Yesterday a team moved to Weasel’s known home, only a caretaker was found,” Owoyesigyire said in a tweet.

The mouthpiece added that the police detectives shall be interviewing Teta on allegations that she is being held at Weasel’s brother, Jose Chameleone’s home against her will.

“We have information on the alleged victim’s current location and we shall be moving there very soon to ascertain allegations that she is being held against her will in one of the Mayanja family homes,” Owoyesigyire added.
