The Police has advised passengers to make upfront payments to boda boda riders before the final destinations.

The move is aimed at thwarting the increasing crimes of attacks on passengers orchestrated by the riders and criminal groups.

Fred Enanga, the Police spokesperson, said riders plan with criminal groups who lay in wait at a final destination. “It is at that time of payment that the thugs strike,” Enanga, said while addressing a security conference on Monday.

How the riders communicate with the gangs remains a subject of investigation.

However, sources said they (thugs) communicate in codded language with their colleagues while taking q particular route.

Police say there is an increase in theft of boda-boda’s and attacks on passengers across the country.

Enanga also advised that one can organize the fare while still on the journey. “Once you pay run to save a life,” he said.
