Oktoberfest, a popular beer festival, which originated in Munich, Germany, is back in Kampala and has been reimagined as a beer and food festival.
Scheduled to take place on October 1, the re-imagining shouldn’t come as a surprise – each city that hosts an Oktoberfest puts its own stamp on it.
Oktoberfest Dubai, for example, is executed as a six-month festival, and includes settings at their popular marinas as well as within the desert.
Oktoberfest Tokyo, is carried out against a backdrop of office buildings, providing an interesting and welcome contrast to the steel, concrete and glass.
Kampala’s event has moved house to Jahazi Pier, after municipal authorities put a freeze on events at the Uganda Museum gardens exceeding 6:00pm.
This year’s edition will include living legend Madoxx, Myko Ouma, singer Mudra, Sir Aludah and The Almost Famous DJs.
The build up towards the event is defined by activation events at bars around the city of Kampala, where revelers can win complimentary tickets to the event.
Last Friday, August 19, Oktoberfest is back! was the catch phrase at The Meat Guy, a bar in the Industrial Area.
This week, the promotional activity moves to Kyadondo Rugby Club grounds.
