The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) on Friday June 24, 2022 announced the temporary closure of the Nsambya Hospital Road to allow the contractor finish up the section.
In a statement released on Friday UNRA said the road will be closed from Saturday June 25 2022 at 8:00 pm to Monday July 27, 2022
“UNRA and the Contractor of the Kampala Flyover Construction and Road Upgrading Project informs the general public that due to ongoing project works, Nsambya Hospital Road will be temporarily closed. The road closure will take place from Saturday June 25 2022 at 8:00 pm to Monday July 25, 2022,” the statement said.
UNRA noted that during this period, all Nsambya Road users are advised to use Gaba Road, Makindye Road, Kevin Road and other connecting roads to access Nsambya Hospital and the neighboring communities, businesses and institutions.”
UNRA Media Relations Manager Allan Ssempebwa said the progress works on the bypass as per June this year stood at 62% and that the contractor was on course to ensure the project is completed in time.
Ssempebwa noted that the project involves construction of a flyover at Clock Tower, widening of Queens Way, Nsambya and Mukwano roads and improvements of interfacing roads and junctions and that the project was intended to improve traffic flow at the junction and the drainage system too.
