President Yoweri Museveni has promised to pay half of the costs of actress Esteri Tebandeke’s kidney transplant.

Allan Kasujja, a Ugandan journalist working with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), tweeted that he had told the President about Esteri’s situation and he (the President) promised to help.

“I shared this story (Esteri’s story) with President @kagutamuseveni just before our hour-long interview.

“Told him that Sam and Esteri (which is the President’s late mother’s name) had raised 50% of the money. The President said he’d pay the other 50% and directed @kennethOmona to follow it,” he tweeted.

Esteri is suffering from chronic kidney disease and needs about $30,000 for a transplant and medication.

Her husband, Samuel Tebandeke, is ready to offer one of his kidneys to save his ailing wife.

On June 15, 2022, the lovebirds organised a movie screening show dubbed Stars For A Star at the National Theatre, to fundraise money for the medical procedure.
