The casket bearing the body of former speaker of the 11thparliament Jacob Oulanyah has arrived at Entebbe International Airport aboard an Ethiopian Airlines plane.
Several senior government officials including the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, former Vice President Edward Sekandi, and Kasule Lumumba among many others were at the airport to receive the remains.
Amid the gloom one conspicuous aspect stood out. Male members of parliament and some ladies donned bow ties, a signature trademark of the departed former speaker. They nailed the look.
During his life and times, Oulanyah, a sharp dresser, stressed the importance of dressing well, especially for politicians who undergo public scrutiny and are often representatives.
He will go down in history as one of the best dressed Ugandan politicians to grace parliament.
A fitness freak, Oulanyah was known for his consistency and a precise fit – his suits were slim but not overly tight. Everything seemed to be where you expected it to be. The cherry on top was his different bow ties that conveyed trustworthiness and intelligence.
Oulanyah died on March 20 at the University of Washington Medical Centre in Seattle, US, where he had been receiving treatment.
