World record holder and Olympic champion. Cannes 10K 2022 reigning champion. The pinnacle of modern day long-distance running. World’s back-to-back champion.

He is Joshua Cheptegei.

Uganda’s GOAT has added one more year.

Cheptegei was born on September 12 1996 in the little known Kwoti village, Kapchorwa Municipality in Kapchorwa district.

As it is a customary tradition in the fraternity, fellow athletes and fans have been lavishing praise and birthday wishes on one of their very own.

Fresh from a successful attempt of defending his world title in Oregon, USA, the senior ranking police officer, who turns up for the Police club, was in good spirits.

The NN Running Team icon has almost overachieved in the sports he has only just started to enjoy.

Given his tender age, the former Busitema University student can only wish and work for the very best he can attain in his running career.

Hope that the new age will bring a new form of glory for an already gloriously decorated athlete signed up by world sportswear company Nike.

It is a coincidence; the Global Sports Communication agency prospect and his wife, Carol Yeko Kamari, also received a baby girl a couple of months ago.

Carol Yeko Kamari

The two who got married on October 31, 2021 named their newborn, Janaya Cheptegei.

Succinctly, there is something special about the name Cheptegei because he just keeps winning both on track, field, road and off it all.

Whatever it is, it will surely be a story for another day for now, let’s celebrate with the superstar upon adding another year.

The party is on back home in Kapchorwa town and the only thing that comes close to dampening the mood is the fact that Cheptegei is still recovering from a calf and hamstring injury.

Take a bow, it is a legendary birthday to the living legend, JOSHUA CHEPTEGEI.
