Gospel sensation Denis Lanek, popularly known as President Lanek, has organised a youth-based show dubbed Hi Skool Swag, which will be held at Kati Kati, Lugogo in Kampala on August 20.
The show that will start from 8:00am to 6:00pm is aimed at urging the youth to give their lives to Jesus Christ.
It will include praise, worship, a fashion show, performances from gospel dance groups and gospel artistes, as well as music played by gospel deejays.
Talking to The Kampala Sun, Lanek explained that after learning that many youth were battling mental health challenges, he reasoned that they needed to be helped through Jesus.
“These last months, much has happened. There have been too many obscenities, suicide reports and so much more, so we decided to reach out to them and call them to Jesus. Our aim is to preach the gospel through dance, music and entertainment and to see youth give in to Jesus,” he said.
Lanek, who has been staging gospel shows in secondary schools, said he has so far been to 78 schools, preaching the gospel and helping students to overcome mental problems through shows.
The show will feature big gospel artistes such as Levixone, Pastor Wilson Bugembe, Dangelo Busuulwa, Din Zaabu, Joy Tendo, Gabbie Ntaate and Elly Bulamu.
Deejay Ditie256 and several other deejays will be scratching the decks.
Lanek is known as the leader of gospel musicians in Uganda, and it’s from this that he calls himself President Lanek.
He came into the gospel music scene with numbers such as Omwoyo Omutukuvu, Esaala Zaffe and Lindirira Mukama.
