A total of 1,500 leaders representing the ghetto youths were inaugurated in a bid to co-ordinate the fight against crime.

The ceremony kicked off on Thursday morning, August 4, at the Lugogo Arena, organised by the Police in coordination with State House officials.

The Government’s target is to get the youth out of crime, including being hired as mercenaries behind city riots.

Kampala Metropolitan policing area comprising Mukono, Wakiso and Kampala has a total of 250,000 ghetto youth, according to lists displayed by their leaders at Lugogo.

They will henceforth benefit from programmes such as the parish development model and others.
