Local movie actors under the Zubairi family have early this morning (Monday) held a demonstration.
This follows the cancellation of Evelyn Lagu’s fundraising show dubbed “An evening with Evelyn Dinner concert” last week.
Following the untimely cancellation, the ailing Lagu was rushed to hospital after collapsing during the press conference for her show.
Holding placards, the actors vented their anger towards landlords of Muganzi Lwazza Rooftop where the concert was supposed to happen on June 2, before police stepped in. Some of the placards read, “Tenants have their rights,” “Evelyn’s fight is our fight,” “Justice for Evelyn Love,” they read.
Moses Bbosa Sserukuma one of the group leaders told The Kampala Sun, “Something is just not right. We need redress. The concert was cancelled and we need proper explanations. We have not got help from the authorities and yet Lagu is ailing” he said.
The concert which was cancelled by Police was scheduled to take place on 2nd June 2022 at Muganzi Lwazza Rooftop building in Katwe
Upon being hit with the unfortunate news, Evelyn Lagu collapsed and was rushed to a nearby clinic.
Evelyn Lagu was hopeful that after her concert, the revenues would help her to foot her medical bills
