New Vision’s Dickson Ndugwa followed the movements of one fan of Spice Diana aka Hajara Namukwaya from the time the singer hit the stage during Bukedde TV presenter Bruno Betty’s Katemba Mu Binyanyanyanya, the Bruno Betty Experience show at Kajjansi playgrounds on Entebbe Road on Friday, July 28, until he (the fan) handed her a gift bag. Ndugwa later made a follow-up call to Spice Diana’s manager to find out the contents of the bag

Bukeddde TV presenter Bruno Sserunkuma, popularly known as Bruno Betty, returned with another show, Katemba Mu Binyanyanyanya, the Bruno Betty Experience at Kajjansi playgrounds on Entebbe Road on Friday, July 28, after the successful one in 2022.

Singer Spice Diana aka Hajara Namukwaya, one of the performers of the day, came on stage at 9:00pm with her hits Kwata Wano and Ndi Mu Love. When she performed her banger Siri Regular, the excitement among the fans was palpable, forcing her to leave the stage to go and mingle with them.

There was one peculiar fan though. Wherever Spice was, there he was. In every picture where Spice was, as she gelled with her fans, somehow he ended up appearing in it.

He later muscled his way through the fans, eventually getting within spitting distance of the singer. He was in utopia! Every song she sang, he sang as he snapped endless selfies with her.

When Spice Diana went back to the stage, the man, who looked like he was in his mid-20s, followed her, before he got out a baby pink gift bag emblazoned with heart shapes and rose petals and handed it to her.

She expressed happiness over meeting a fan who knew all her songs and proceeded to hug him and give him the microphone to say a word or two. He did steal a peck during the hug. Lol.

The man, who introduced himself as Moses Ssenyange, was overwhelmed with emotions as he spoke.

”I love you, Spice Diana. I am your number one fan in the whole of Kajjansi. That’s why you are seeing tears rolling down my cheeks and I have given you this gift with one heart because I have seen you helping the helpless. Giving to others is a gift from God,” he said.

(Spice Diana is often seen donating to vulnerable communities and doing charity work. On Monday, July 31, she donated items such as mattresses, soap, soft drinks and diapers to the needy at St Lillian Jubilee Home Orphanage in Gayaza, Wakiso. In May, she visited widows in Bokasa zone in Bwaise 3, a city suburb, and offered them relief items in terms of food)

Ssenyange said he has been a die-hard fan of Spice Diana for long, but he had never had a chance to see her physically.

Little did he know that his dream would come true at the Bruno Betty show.

When we made a phone call to Spice Diana’s manager, Roger Lubega, on August 1 for more details about the contents of the gift bag, he said: ”We were happy to meet such a fan that loves Spice Diana. When we reached home and checked what was in the paper bag, we found two tins of powdered milk.”

Whether or not the singer consumed the milk, remains to be seen.

During an interview with Bukedde TV’s Josephat Sseguya in Makindye, a city suburb, on July 16, said she has no qualms with fans touching her.

“I don’t want to create a gap between my fans and I. I don’t see any reason why they cannot touch me as long as they do not touch my private parts and my breasts. Our fans love us and when they see as on stage, they feel excited and want to know if it’s us that they see on TV. Sometimes I go to them and want to feel them,” she said.

Spice made the remarks following a video that circulated on social media showing revellers in Rukungiri touching her legs.

Earlier, singer Winnie Nwagi hit the hands of a fan who tried to touch her feet during a show.
