Filmmaker Samuel Tebandeke recently gave an update on the health of his wife, Esteri Tebandeke, who underwent a kidney operation a few months ago after battling chronic kidney disease for years.
According to Tebandeke, the operation was successful, and Esteri’s health is gradually improving.
“The operation was successful but she is picking up in beats. She is still a bit weak but we hope that she will completely be well with time,” Samuel Tebandeke said.
Although she is still somewhat weak, Tebandeke remains optimistic that his wife will make a full recovery in due course. However, he emphasized that Esteri needs to be cautious about her diet as her immune system has yet to fully recover.
“The doctor told us to mind what we eat because her immunity is not yet strong enough,” he said.
Worth to note, Tebandeke had offered to donate one of his kidneys to his partner, and he has since confirmed that the procedure went smoothly and that he is in good health.
In August 2022, a group of filmmakers organized a fundraising event dubbed “Stars For A Star” to support the couple’s transplant efforts. Samuel Tebandeke expressed his gratitude to the public for their unwavering support during a challenging period.
“We want to thank the entire community of contributors, friends, family, and well-wishers who stood with us during this difficult time and keep hope alive through not just financial but also moral and spiritual support,” Samuel Tebandeke said.
The couple has also established the Tebandeke Foundation, which aims to assist others who suffer from chronic kidney disease and related illnesses.
Esteri is a celebrated actress who has starred in several films, including Queen of Katwe, Broken Shadow, Sins of the Parents, and Master on Duty, among others.
