Ed Sheeran has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be self-isolating from home, where he intends to carry out upcoming interviews and performances remotely.
“Quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for COVID, so I’m now self-isolating and following government guidelines,” Sheeran wrote on a post shared to his Instagram earlier today (25th October).

The news comes just a few days before the British singer-songwriter’s fourth studio album = is set to arrive. The album, which has been previewed with singles ‘Bad habits’ in June and ” Shivers’ last month, is set to land this Friday, 29th October.
Among the singer’s scheduled media commitments, Sheeran was recently announced as the musical guest for next week’s episode of Saturday Night Live on Saturday, 6th November. Next week, he was expected to join Apple Music’s Zane Lowe live for an interview and to perform new songs.
It’s unclear at this stage exactly which of the singer’s upcoming commitments will be carried out remotely and which will be cancelled. Last week, Sheeran performed in London for the inaugural Earthshot Prize ceremony, hosted by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
