It is hard to imagine dancehall singer Ziza Bafana and church in the same sentence, not with his scandalous videos chockful of gyrating semi-naked women.

Well, Ziza Bafana aka Richard Kasendwa was given a chance to lead the second service and preach at Heaven Church Center in Nabisalu, Makindye division, Kampala on May 28, 2023.

The dreadlocked singer, who was dressed in white skinny jeans, black T-shirt and sunglasses, revealed that he was a church boy and he used to sing and dance in the choir.

He explained why he is no longer seen in church on Sundays, with a tinge of regret.

“I love God and before joining the music industry, I used go to church in Masaka, where I served as a singer and dancer. If it wasn’t for this work I do of singing, I would have come to church every Sunday, but God knows the reason why I went into secular music instead of gospel,” Ziza, who was in the company of his crew, said.

The Okabilaki singer expressed concern that people prefer bars to church, citing the few congregants in church that day.

“See, we are few here, but bars are always full,” he said.

It turns out, he did not just come to feed the flock on the word of God

Ziza also donated scholastic materials such as books and pens to children going back to school, advising them to stay in school.

“Children, never rush for good things. Your future is ahead of you. Never let people lie to you and make you leave school. Always read the Bible and trust God.”
