The High Court in Mubende has nullified the election of Joyce Bagala Ntwatwa as the Woman Member of Parliament for Mityana district.
The ruling made today follows a petition by lands minister Judith Nabakooba, who came second in the election.
Bagala won the January 14 polls under the National Unity Platform party ticket, with a margin of 16,000 votes to defeat Nabakooba.

But in March, Nabakooba filed a petition to challenge the outcome of the polls, alleging that Bagala was not validly elected to represent Mityana district in Parliament, on grounds that the Electoral Commission (EC) failed to secure conditions necessary for the conduct of the election.
Nabakooba, the candidate of the ruling National Resistance Movement, also alleged that while registered voters were threatened, and her agents intimidated, EC presiding officers connived with Bagala and her agents to procure voting by unregistered persons, facilitate impersonation of voters and multiple voting.
But Bagala said her rival had no legal grievance, but was merely nursing wounds of defeat.
Mityana is made up of Mityana North, South, Municipality and Busujju.
