At a press briefing held at the Kampala Serena Hotel, on August 11, Vision Group’s Bukedde FM, a Luganda radio station, pledged it’s full support towards the forthcoming Greater Masaka Fete, to be held on September 17 at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
The concert, organised by Smile Nakazibwe Foundation, an NGO established by TV personality Faridah Nakazibwe, is meant to celebrate talent, culture and art from Masaka and the districts that make Greater Masaka region.
At the presser, Nakazibwe revealed that for a long time, the people of Greater Masaka have been referred to as successful people and quite integral in the business and arts sectors of Uganda.

“It is, therefore, prudent for us to celebrate ourselves and where we come from, and there is no better way to do it than organising a fete like this. The concert will first be organised in Kampala because we have quite a number of people from Greater Masaka, but living in Kampala. We shall then hold another concert in Masaka at Masaka Recreation Grounds, on September 24,” Nakazibwe said.
On top of entertainment, she revealed that the proceeds from the show will go towards enhancing garbage collection in Masaka City, because hygiene is one of the city’s major challenges at the moment.
Nakazibwe added that such causes will continue to happen in other parts of the region on various editions of the fete.
She lauded the sponsors of the show for supporting the cause.

Representing Bukedde FM Embutikizi, Simon Maseruka alias Simo Omunene W’ekibuga, a presenter on the station, said majority of their listeners are from Buganda, where Greater Masaka is located.
“Therefore, it was only right to side with such a concert, and the fact that it is geared towards ensuring a clean environment in Masaka City, Bukedde FM had to come in. I want to assure the organisers that they will have our full support towards ensuring that this concert is a success. I call upon all our listeners to come out in large numbers,” he said.
Nakazibwe further intimated that the show will strictly have performers from Greater Masaka because this is a show to celebrate their own, and they have quite a lot of talent to entertain everyone.
Some of the artistes lined up include Mathias Walukagga, Chosen Becky, Madrat and Chiko, Abdu Mulaasi, DJ Ssuuna Ben and a host of Kadongo Kamu artistes.
