Hannah Vanessa Nabakungulu from Buddu county has been crowned Miss Tourism Buganda region.
She beat 30 contestants from different counties to bag the crown at Club Ambiance Bukesa, Kampala on May 26, 2023.
The first runner-up was Favor Nantongo from Kyaggwe county and the second runner-up was Hilda Namulwana from Ssese county.
The question that made Nabakungulu to win the competition was who the last minister to be shot was. Out of final three contestants, only Nabakungulu knew the answer.
“I didn’t expect to win, but what enabled me to win was confidence, doing research and also God who was with me since the first day I joined the camp,“ Nabakungulu said.
Sydney Nabulya Kavuma, the outgoing Miss Tourism Buganda, who was from Kyadondo country, as she was handing over the crown to Nabakungulu, said: “ My journey has ended and it’s you with the crown now. Becoming a Miss is not easy at all, but I appeal to you to be humble, promote tourism in Buganda and stay well behaved because the crown comes with many responsibilities, including being a public figure. Keep the crown well.”
Sydney urged the other contestants not to give up their dreams.
The guest of honour was Buganda princess Victoria Nkiinzi.
