The clock is ticking. Throats are itching. Bar owners are rubbing their hands in anticipation of the re-opening of bars. With just four days to the D-day, there is even bigger news for them.
Uganda Breweries Limited has announced a stimulus package for bars ahead of the full re-opening to a tune of sh2.1b.
This revelation was made today (Wednesday) as stakeholders in the entertainment industry met at Legends Rugby Grounds, Lugogo in Kampala to discuss how several businesses like bars will be operating when the night economy is fully opened up next week.

The stakeholders included the health ministry, Kampala Capital City Authority, bar owners’ associations, Private Sector Foundation Uganda and alcohol brewers.
While addressing the participants at the meeting, Dr. Diana Atwiine, the permanent secretary at the health ministry, urged bar owners to encourage more people to get vaccinated and also enforce the COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures to keep people safe from the virus.
At the event, vaccination against COVID-19 was organised for those who were getting first and second shots, as well as booster doses.
