Uganda has joined the rest of the world to celebrate the 75th independence of India and the Indian Association Uganda (IAU) upon marking 100 years in Uganda.
The celebrations, which were held at Speke Resort, Munyonyo on August 13, started with a pre-event networking afternoon, before a live concert and food festival later.
There was a special appearance by Sonu Nigam, a famous Indian singer, music director and actor.
Sonu has been described in the media as one of the most popular and successful playback singers in Hindi cinema.

Uganda has over 27,000 Indians.
Santosh Gumte, the managing director of Plascon, in an interview, rallied the Indian community in Uganda on this milestone and pledged to continue supporting the community in their charitable causes in conjunction with local nonprofit organisations in Uganda.
