Car shows are becoming all the revv in Kampala. There was one such show last weekend from July 16-17, at the often tranquil Kololo Airstrip. The sound of engines revving replaced birdsong.
Instead of crickets, we heard the turbo sound. However, there were a few quiet moments when the ‘silent’ cars were tested.
The morning was dull, but not the afternoon. The adrenaline levels stepped up.

The drifting sessions, on a hot afternoon, woke everyone up.
Being Kololo, fans were disciplined and stood far from the race track to avoid accidents.
Throughout the drifting, spins and revving, DJ Conc Mukiga kept the decks going.
The profits from the event went towards Mama Edith’s Home for Children in Jinja, according to the organiser, Christopher Buni.
