Uganda’s Oscars pre-selected movie, Tembele, directed by Morris Mugisha, has been screening at Century Cinemax, Acacia Mall in Kampala from September 16 to September 22.
The movie’s seven-day screening was meant to fulfill the eligibility criteria for it to make it to the grand Academy Committee in the US.
Tembele has been the talk of the town in the movie circles since its pre-selection.
Speaking to The Kampala Sun, Mugisha expressed joy about the turnout at the event.

“People have turned up in good numbers and I am happy about that,” he said.
Joan Agaba, an actress who turned up for the screening, noted that the movie was good enough to compete globally.
“It’s a great movie with a global theme and its cinematography is great. The story is good and the actors were perfect. I enjoyed it and I am sure it can be weighed against other movies internationally,” she said.
